2nd International Scientific Conference
Multidisciplinary Research on Cultural Heritage (MRCH 2025)
Zagreb, 24–26 September 2025
Organisers: Croatian State Archives, University of Zagreb – Faculty of Graphic Arts, Museum of Contemporary Art
Co-organisers: University of Zagreb – Faculty of Textile Technology, Library of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts, ICARUS (International Centre for Archival Research), ERC-BP (European Research Centre for Book and Paper Conservation-Restoration), IIC (The International Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works) Croatian group.
The conference is held under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia.
Building on the success of the two conferences held to date—New Approaches in the Research of Written Cultural Heritage on Paper (2023) and Colour in Written Heritage: Multidisciplinary Research (2024), the latter of which marked our first international gathering—we are excited to announce the organization of a third conference this year. This event will further advance the multidisciplinary exploration of cultural heritage initiated by this series.
We therefore invite experts from a range of scientific disciplines, including conservation and restoration, art history, history, graphic arts, linguistics, library science, museology, archival science and others to join us at this year’s conference.
You can participate in the conference in three ways:
- oral presentation
- poster section
- video presentation
For those who wish to participate without presenting, it is also possible to attend the conference as an audience member.
Participation is free of charge, but application for attendance is mandatory (application will be possible after the announcement of the program).
We invite you to participate in the domain of Multidisciplinary Cultural Heritage Research with topics including but not limited to:

- Interaction of materials in cultural heritage
- Non-invasive research methods in cultural heritage
- Multispectral imaging
- Hyperspectral imaging

- Research on cultural heritage on paper
- Research on written cultural heritage
- Materials in museum collections
- Contemporary colours and inks applied to cultural heritage
